Massage Therapy Certification

The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) sets standards for massage and bodywork practitioners across the country by way of the National Certification Exam (NCE). National certification from NCBTMB protects the consumer, the profession and employers by ensuring that individuals who obtain this credential have skills consistent with specific national standards and criteria. To become eligible for certification, practitioners must possess certain levels of education, experience and training, demonstrate mastery of core skills, abilities and knowledge, and pass a certification exam. NCBTMB also requires continuing education to keep practitioners current with advances in the field.

Graduates of MTTI-WellSpring's massage therapy program in Kansas City and Lawrence are eligible to take the NCE. And MTTI-WellSpring is very proud to report that graduates sitting for the National Certification Exam enjoy a pass rate of 81%! The national average is only 68%.  MTTI-WellSpring's high pass rate reflects our comprehensive curriculum and excellent instruction.

Licensing Requirements for Massage Therapists

In most states, licensing as a Massage Therapy Practitioner is governed at the state level. MTTI-WellSpring's 750-hour curriculum exceeds the minimum requirements established by all but a few states. Currently, 38 states, including Missouri, require national certification for licensure. In Kansas, licensing is governed by individual municipalities. MTTI-WellSpring's curriculum prepares graduates to meet licensing requirements in all local cities.

Currently, in Missouri and Kansas, there are no licensing requirements for personal trainers, wellness counselors or energy practitioners.

Personal Training Certification

Most reputable fitness facilities and studios require their personal trainers to have a certification in fitness. After working with numerous health clubs in the Kansas City and Lawrence area, MTTI-WellSpring has partnered with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) for its Fitness Training and Wellness Program. The NASM certification as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) are the most respected certifications in the personal training industry today. 

Students enrolled in MTTI-WellSpring's Fitness Training and Wellness Program have a 90% NASM CPT and CES pass rate, and a 90% job placement rate.
